The American Civil Rights Coalition (ACRC) was established by Ward Connerly and Dusty Rhodes in 1997 as part of the coordinated national effort to end racial and gender preferences, in conjunction with The American Civil Rights Institute.

ACRC works with grassroots supporters and leaders on the local, state and federal level to end racial and gender preferences and classifications. ACRC engages in activities such as initiative campaigns and lobbying. Currently in Michigan, ACRC is working with the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative to eliminate racial and gender preferences in public hiring, contracting and admissions. MCRI will appear before Michigan voters on the November 2006 ballot.

ACRC is a non profit 501(c)4 organization. While contributions are not tax-deductible, the organization has the flexibility to fulfill the political needs of the movement. We are funded through private donations from individuals and major charitable organizations.

ACRC is committed to achieving equal opportunity for everyone. Specifically, we focus on the political influence needed to effect the elimination of preferences and classifications.

Today Judge Lawson dismissed all claims against the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative and ruled that the Initiative is constitutional. Jennifer Gratz, who was the executive director of the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative and is now with the American Civil Rights Institute said, “Despite numerous attempts to thwart the will of the voters by the radical group, By Any Means Necessary, and their allies, the people of Michigan will finally have their voices heard. Fairness and equality are now unequivocally Michigan law.”
